On Friday the last match of our team at the international tournament "Development Cup" took place. In the match for 5th and 6th place, the BCS team met the junior team from Kazakhstan. Both teams finished third in their groups, so the match promised to be tough and exciting.

Midfielders: Felipe Lima de Souza, Kaua Miranda Da silva, Adrian Castro de Souza
Forwards: Gustavo Silva dos Santos, Mateus Alves Gomes Filho, Jamyson Ryan da Silva Oliveira

From the very first minutes, our opponents surprised our team. In the 4th minute, Kazakhstan had a good attack and their striker sent the ball into the far corner of Francisco Fernandes Santiago da Costa's goal - 0-1.

After conceding the goal, our boys needed time to recover. However, in the 17th minute, Gustavo Silva dos Santos won a penalty which Mateus Alves Gomes Filho converted with aplomb. It was the striker's first goal of the tournament in his first game back from a minor injury.

The goal inspired the BCS team and they took the initiative. In the 27th minute, the same Mateus Alves Gomes Filho scored a brace to give us a 2-1 lead!

It looked like the Kazakhstanis were going to have a hard time getting back into the game, but in the 31st minute their opponents equalised. The pace of the game slowed down, but in the 38th minute Kazakhstan launched a swift counter-attack to regain the lead - 2:3.

After the break, BCS came out firing on all cylinders, but Kazakhstan's defence was well organised. Long-range efforts failed to find their mark and there were few moments of real danger.

At the end of the game, our boys had a chance to save the game. Vinicius Leles Dos Santos Borges, who had come on as a substitute, capitalised on the defenders' mistake and went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but he could not beat him.

The final whistle recorded the victory of the national team of Kazakhstan with a score of 3:2.

Our guys took 6th place at the ‘Development Cup’ and gained invaluable experience of confrontation with strong teams from Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries. Despite the final result, BCS showed character in every game and fought to the last minute. The team will now take a short break before returning to action in Brazil.
