Development cup
In the second round of the international 'Development Cup' tournament, our team faced the junior team from Tajikistan. After the first round, neither team had any points, so this match was key in the fight for higher places.
BCS starting line-up:
Goalkeeper: Francisco Fernandes Santiago da Costa
Defenders: João Gabriel Alves Pereira, Lucas Gabriel Soares Santos Gomes, Marlon Sousa Silva Oliveira, Pedro Henrique Gabriel Dias
Midfielders: Felipe Lima de Souza, Kauã Miranda da Silva, Adrian Castro de Souza
Forwards: Gustavo Silva dos Santos, Luiz Felipe Silva Pires Ortogalli, Jamyson Ryan da Silva Oliveira
From the opening minutes both teams were looking at each other, fighting for the initiative, but without any clear scoring chances. Midway through the first half, however, the BCS team began to attack more aggressively. Lucas Gabriel could have opened the scoring from a corner, but the ball went just over, and then Jamyson Ryan did well to beat three defenders before unleashing an unstoppable drive that flew inches over the bar.
It looked as if the first half was going to end without a goal, but in the extra time our boys organised a great attack. Luiz Felipe Ortogalli had a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but he couldn't beat him and the rebound fell to Gustavo Silva, who curled the ball over the keeper to open the scoring! Immediately after the goal, the referee blew the whistle for half-time.
BCS continued to attack after the break, but there was a moment in the 57th minute that could have turned the game - Kauã Miranda was shown a second yellow card, leaving his team in the minority.
Tajikistan's youth team took the initiative, but our boys defended competently and did not allow their opponents to create any dangerous moments. In the 63rd minute, the coaching staff made two substitutions - Kleverson Vinícius and Daniel Silva came on and immediately livened up our attacking play. Vinícius quickly took over the game, earning two yellow cards for the opposition and pushing the game away from our goal.
At the end of the match, Tajikistan created the only truly dangerous moment - after a cross from the flank, the opposing player failed to clear the far post. A few minutes later the final whistle blew - 1:0, a crucial BCS victory!
Now everything will be decided in the third round, where our team will face the Belarus youth national team. After this victory, BCS still have a good chance of fighting for the top places.
Stay tuned and support our team in the Development Cup! 💪⚽
